EPLAN Software & Service, August 2002: New service pack for EPLAN 5.40
EPLAN 5.40 - More than just cosmetic improvements
The new EPLAN Version 5.40 was
launched at the beginning of the year, and has been used successfully ever since. It was followed in July by the release
of Service Pack 1, featuring a range of attractive innovations. EPLAN 5.40 SP1 is a technological leader in terms of both
function and internationalism.
Workflow optimisation
DIN group-related numbering is becoming increasingly widespread, particularly when planning large installations. A
number of new functions have been created in this area, including the evaluation of nested components. The additional numbering
formats for DIN tags and the increased maximum number of classification letters likewise offer substantial benefits in terms of
structuring and clarity. The checking facility for multiple allocations of device tags is also very useful, particularly with large designs; in
this way, many time-consuming sources of potential errors can be excluded at the project planning stage.
Totally global
In today’s era of escalating globalisation, the multi-lingual support offered by
EPLAN 5 is a key consideration. The user can set
project parameters specifying the required languages for
documentation output, regardless of which language was used for project planning. Numerous additions for display of circuit diagrams
in JIC format (a common standard in the United States and Asia) cater to discerning internationalisation requirements.
Internet functions extended
The new link to the Inter@View
module "WWW-CHANGE" completes the diversity of the Inter@View
family, and supports the reintegration of amended information in the original EPLAN project.
As such, EPLAN 5.40 SP1 facilitates the complete transmission, amendment and maintenance of electrical engineering projects via
the Internet.
Release of Windows XP
The release of EPLAN 5.40 SP1 for Windows XP represents a further milestone in the EPLAN application! Regardless of whether
customers opt to convert their computers or are investing in a new system based on Windows XP, EPLAN reflects the latest trends
and is guaranteed to run under this new Windows technology.
